Everything parents and tutors ask us about live mocks, bookings, results and accounts.
Newton 11+ is an online mock exam platform for children preparing for the 11+ entrance test. Each paper follows the GL Assessment pattern, the same four subjects and multiple-choice format as the real exam, and runs for an 8-hour window on exam day so your child sits the same paper as hundreds of other students across the UK and is ranked against them.
The platform is designed for children preparing for the 11+ exam, typically Year 4 and Year 5 (ages 8 to 10). Younger and older siblings are welcome to use it for practice, but the difficulty is pitched at the standard 11+ cohort.
Our papers follow the GL Assessment pattern, which is used by most grammar school consortia across England, including Buckinghamshire, Kent, Essex, Birmingham, Trafford and others. Each region has its own exam format, subjects and weightings, and our mocks are tailored to match. Browse upcoming sessions by region on the booking page, and check our Grammar Schools directory for the format used in each area.
A parent or guardian creates a single account for the family, then adds a profile for each child. You can register from the home page or any pricing card. Once signed up, you can browse upcoming live mocks and book seats for your children from your dashboard.
Yes, and your child’s first live mock is free. Every new account gets one free exam credit automatically, so you can book a full GL-pattern live mock and see real results and a UK-wide ranking before paying anything. You can also run our free demo any time to see how the exam interface works and check that your device, browser and connection are ready for exam day.
Each mock follows the GL Assessment pattern used in the region you book for. Format and total duration vary between regions. They are typically between 1 hour 45 minutes and 2 hours including a 15-minute supervised break in the middle. Sessions cover the four standard subjects: Maths, Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning and Comprehension. All questions are multiple-choice. The exact section order, length and weighting are shown on the booking page for each session so you know what to expect before you confirm.
It is not an official GL paper. Only GL Assessment can produce those. Our mocks are written to mirror the GL pattern as closely as possible: same sections, same question styles, multiple-choice answer format and age-standardised scoring. The goal is realistic preparation, not a copy of the live test.
Each mock is live for an 8-hour window on exam day. Within that window your child can join whenever suits. The timer starts when they begin the paper and runs for the full exam length. Everyone sits the same paper within the same window, which is what makes the UK-wide ranking meaningful.
Sessions run inside a controlled exam interface with a fixed-length timer and a supervised break. The platform monitors session activity, and our team is on hand throughout the 8-hour window to handle technical issues. We rely on parents to provide a quiet, distraction-free environment at home.
Every mock includes a 15-minute supervised break between sessions, with an on-screen countdown. Your child can step away from the screen, have a drink and stretch. The next session starts automatically when the break timer ends, so make sure they are back at their desk before the countdown reaches zero.
Yes. If the connection drops mid-exam, simply reload the page and sign back in. Answers already submitted are saved. Your child's personal exam timer keeps running while they are offline, so please reconnect as quickly as possible to avoid losing exam time.
Sign in, go to your dashboard and open Book an exam. You will see upcoming live sessions, filterable by region. Pick a date that suits your week, choose which child the booking is for, and confirm. The seat is held against your account once the booking is made.
Slots open progressively across the academic year. You can book any session that appears in your dashboard, including sessions several weeks ahead. Popular dates close to the real 11+ exam fill up quickly, so booking early is recommended.
Yes, and we recommend it. Multiple sittings build exam stamina and let you see real progress over time. Each booking uses one credit per child.
Yes. A single parent account can hold profiles for each of your children. Credits are shared across the account, so you can use them for any of your registered children on any available date.
You can cancel or move a booking from your dashboard up until the cancellation window shown at the point of booking closes. Cancellations made inside that window release the seat back to your account; cancellations made outside it may not be refunded or rebooked.
If your child cannot sit the mock during the day's 8-hour window, please cancel or reschedule via your dashboard before the window opens, in line with the cancellation policy. Sessions that have not been started by the time the window closes are marked as missed and the credit will normally have been used.
Your child's score and section breakdown are released as soon as their session is marked, typically within minutes of finishing. UK-wide ranking is finalised once all students have completed the paper within the day's 8-hour window. Everything appears on your dashboard under Results.
Each result includes a total standardised score, a section-by-section breakdown (Maths, Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Comprehension), a UK-wide rank and percentile against everyone who sat the same session, and the questions your child answered correctly and incorrectly.
Most grammar schools age-standardise raw scores so that a child born in August is not disadvantaged compared with one born in September. Our scoring follows the same approach, which gives you a number you can compare meaningfully across siblings and across the year group.
The Progress page on your dashboard shows every sitting your child has done, plotted over time, with section-level trends. This is where strengths and weaknesses really come through after a handful of mocks.
Mock scores are a strong indicator of exam-day readiness, but they are not a prediction. Performance on the real test depends on many factors outside our control. See our Terms of Use for the full position on results and outcomes.
Your first live mock is free. Every new account gets one free exam credit, so your child’s first sitting is on us. After that we offer three options: Single (£15 for 1 credit), Bundle (£30 for 3 credits, £10 per exam) and Pack (£50 for 5 credits, £10 per exam). Each credit books one child into one live mock. See the Pricing page for full details.
Yes. When you create an account we add one free exam credit automatically, with no card or promo code needed. Use it to book any upcoming live mock for your child. The free credit is spent before any paid credits, and there is one per family.
No. Credits stay on your account until you use them. You can spread sittings across the whole year.
Yes. Credits are held at the account level, not per child, so you can use them for any of your registered children on any available date.
Payments are processed by Stripe. You can pay by debit or credit card. Your card details are entered on Stripe and never reach our servers.
Yes. Enter your promo code on the secure checkout page and the discount is applied before you pay.
If something has clearly gone wrong with your order, such as a duplicate charge, a failed mock we could not deliver, or an error on our side, contact us at [email protected] and we will look into it promptly. Credits used to access a mock that has already started are treated as a delivered digital service and are not normally refundable. Full terms are on our Terms of Use page.
Yes. A Stripe receipt is emailed to you automatically after every purchase. If you need a copy of an older receipt, contact us at [email protected].
A laptop or desktop computer with a keyboard and mouse or trackpad gives the best experience. Tablets work but a larger screen is easier to read for the comprehension section. We do not recommend taking a mock on a phone.
Modern, up-to-date browsers, such as Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox, all work. Make sure the browser is updated and pop-up blockers are not preventing the exam interface from loading.
A stable broadband connection is enough. We recommend connecting by ethernet or sitting close to the router for the exam, and closing other heavy applications during the session.
Yes. We strongly recommend it. Run the free demo a day or two before the live mock so the interface feels familiar and exam day is about performance, not learning the controls.
